Judge Kelly L. Banach received her undergraduate degree in Government from Cornell University in 1979 and her law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1982. She served as an Assistant Public Defender in Bucks County, Pennsylvania from February 1983 to November 1985. After a brief association with the Allentown law firm of Wiener and Wiener, Judge Banach went to the Office of the District Attorney of Lehigh County in May of 1987. She ultimately became Senior Chief Deputy District Attorney, Supervisor of the Special Offenses Unit, which handled the Sex Crimes, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Cases, and Director of Training and Public education, developing the Protecting Kids from Cyber Crimes program. Judge Banach served as an instructor for the Allentown Police Academy as well as for the Pennsylvania District Attorneys' Institute. She is a former board member of the Child Advocacy Center of Lehigh County, and was co-chair of the Lehigh County Child Death Review Team. She is currently on the Board of the Allentown Jewish Community Center. Judge Banach was elected to the bench of the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas in November of 2003, where she currently sits in the Criminal Division.
