InfoCr Eddy Sarroff is Labor’s Candidate for McPherson. Having served as a Gold Coast City Councillor for over 10 years, Eddy is well aware of the issues and challenges confronting the Gold Coast. Before entering local government, Eddy owned and managed a number of retail outlets and a successful import/export business. Eddy’s business involvement, combined with his dedication to the community, saw him serve as Chairman of the Broadbeach Chamber of Commerce before being elected to the newly amalgamated Gold Coast City Council in 1995. During his time on the GCCC, Eddy has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee, of which he remains a member, and also currently serves on the Strategic Growth Management Committee.

As part of a Kevin Rudd Government, Eddy will work to ensure the region receives increased federal funding for crucial infrastructure projects and Commonwealth backing for the proposed Gold Coast rapid transport project. Eddy is currently a keen supporter and patron of many business and community nonprofit organisations, including a number of Gold Coast bowls and surf lifesaving clubs as well as the Queensland Police Citizens Youth Club and a local senior citizens club.

Eddy has four young children and his married to Leanne, who owns and operates a successful local fashion business. Apart from spending time with his family, Eddy enjoys gardening and soaking up the air on one of the McPherson electorate’s stunning beaches.
