InfoBrett Raguse was born and educated in Queensland. His family connections to the Forde electorate date back to the late 1800s.

After an apprenticeship in graphic arts, Brett pursued business opportunities including the publication of local and community newspapers. Brett then attained a degree and post-graduate degree in education which led him to teaching, lecturing, and college and faculty directorships.

His later foray back into the private sector let to the private provision of training and educational programs, both nationally and internationally.

Through his business and family interests and while raising four children in the district, Brett has had extensive experience in the local community from his executive roles in chambers of commerce to local leadership positions within sporting and community organisations.

Brett first joined the Labor Party in 1981 in Rosewood and was a member of the Printing and Kindred Industries Union attaining the position as “Father of the Chapel” (Shop Delegate).

He later joined the Beaudesert and Jimboomba Branches of the ALP taking on positions of Branch President, Vice-President, and Secretary as well as President of both the RHC and FEC.

Brett was the Campaign Director for Beaudesert in the 1998 State election and more recently the candidate for the same seat in the 2006 election, returning a 5.8% swing in the primary vote to Labor .
