InfoBrady represented voters in Caldwell, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides and Winn parishes. He served in the Legislature under Govs. Edwin Edwards and Dave Treen.

He was born in Urania on July 9, 1938. He grew up to become a standout football player at LaSalle high School despite battling many childhood illnesses such as severe fevers and rare muscle and neurological ailments.

He earned a football scholarship to LSU, but his health eventually convinced him to leave football and LSU. Brady transferred to NSU in Natchitoches, going to school and working as a radio disc jockey. He met his wife, Cullyne Roy Scott, at NSU and got married in 1960.

He graduated in 1962 and worked at radio stations in Alexandria, Natchitoches, Winnfield and Farmerville.

Brady was inspired by the Long political dynasty and worked on the staff of Congressman Speedy O. Long in Washington, D.C., from 1965 to 1971. After that, he moved his family to Urania so he could start his own political career. He was elected to the House in 1976.

While serving, he also began a career in real estate and real estate appraisal. After leaving politics, he moved to Alexandria and founded Bud Brady Appraisals.

Brady also enjoyed photography, painting and music, including playing a Dobro that was a gift from the late Gov. Jimmie Davis.

He attended Tullos First Baptist Church while living in LaSalle Parish, and recently attended the Pentecostal Church of Alexandria.

Brady was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Lee Brady; mother, Lucille McCarrol Brady; and son, Roderick Edward Brady. He is survived by brother, Gerald Brady of Lafayette; sister, Shirley Talley of Houston; two daughters, Cecelia Brady Gonzalez of San Diego, and Charlane Rene Brady of Reykjavik, Iceland, and San Francisco; and two grandchildren, Joseph Gonzalez of Newport Beach, Calif., and Gabriella Gonzalez of San Diego.
