Gerlach in 1945 and to former Representative Franklin H. Lichtenwalter in 1947 and served until taking his seat in Congress; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second Congress and served from January 3, 1951, until his death in Fullerton, Lehigh County, Pa., September 1, 1951; interment in Fairview Cemetery, West Catasauqua, Pa.
