| Info | The daughter of President Zachery Taylor she married Jefferson Davis on June 17, 1835. Davis was serving as an officer under Taylor at the time. Taylor was opposed to the two getting married saying that known of his daughters were going to marry any military men. He forbade Davis from seeing her. At one point Davis and Taylor decided to settle their dispute with a duel though it never took place. Secretly the two courted and finally got married, Taylor and his wife did not attend the wedding.
While visiting one of Davis's relatives in late August 1835 the two contracted malaria. Jefferson Davis recovered but his wife Sarah died at the age of 21.
