BOULDIN, James Wood, (1792 - 1854)
BOULDIN, James Wood, (brother of Thomas Tyler Bouldin), a Representative from Virginia; born in Charlotte County, Va., in 1792; attended the common schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar April 12, 1813, and commenced practice at Charlotte Court House, Va.; member of state house of delegates, 1825-1826; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Thomas T. Bouldin; reelected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress; reelected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress; and served from March 15, 1834, to March 3, 1839; chairman, Committee on District of Columbia (Twenty-fifth Congress); resumed the practice of law and also engaged in agricultural pursuits; died at his country home, “Forest Hill,” Charlotte County, Va., March 30, 1854; interment in the private burial ground on his estate.
