InfoWilburn Wilson (Skipper) Dick, 96, passed away on June 20, 2003. He was born on March 20, 1907 to H. S. and Nevada Dick of Eastland, TX. One of 7 brothers, he moved to Arizona in 1917.

He played a prominent role in Arizona State athletics from 1927-1933 playing football, basketball, & baseball. After graduating he married Barbara Benson in 1939. A progressive educator, he was elected State Superintendent of public education in 1959. When he was 80, he could "shoot his age" in golf.

Skipper is survived by his 4 children Robin, Richard, Larry, and Susan, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
