InfoTim Bivins served over 32 years in law enforcement with 20 years as Sheriff of Lee County, Dixon, Illinois, making him the longest serving sheriff in the history of the county. During that time, he served on security details for President Ronald Reagan, Vice President George H. Bush, Vice President Dan Quayle, Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert, Governors Jim Edgar, Jim Thompson, George Ryan, and United States Senator Peter Fitzgerald.

During his tenure as Lee County Sheriff, Tim Bivins served as President of the Illinois Sheriff’s Association. He is currently a member of the Department of Justice Medal of Valor Review Board, an advisory group to President Bush. The Medal of Valor is the highest national award for valor by a public safety official who displays exceptional courage in protecting or saving of human lives. Tim was named to the Board by former U.S. House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (IL-14). Tim Bivins also served on the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission, having been appointed by then Governor Jim Edgar.

Tim is an avid volleyball player and coach, coaching at the high school level for 12 years. He is still active in his community recently being appointed to the Dixon School District Foundation.

Tim and his wife Terri reside in Dixon and have two children Lindsey and Ryan. Lindsey is a second grade teacher who resides in Macon, Georgia with her husband Billy and two sons. Ryan is a senior at Olivet Nazarene University where he is a member of the ROTC and Illinois National Guard. He resides in Bourbonnais with his wife Jordan and they are expecting their first child in the spring of 2008.
