| Info | Born 6-27-63 to Ed & Eliza Stilley. Raised in rural Carroll County, Arkansas, near Eureka Springs. Middle child of 5 children. Attended Eureka Springs Public Schools through 8th grade.
Quit school after 8th grade, began working at a local sawmill, later at home construction and other jobs. Earned GED in July 1980. Started welding training at Gary Job Corp in San Marcos TX in Fall of 1980. Finished Job Corp training and started work for Todd Shipyards of Galveston, TX, in July 1981.
Was laid off from Todd Shipyards in late 1982. In early 1983, went to a job hand planting pine trees with a tool called a "hodag", or "hodad." Tree planting is seasonal, usually lasting from January thru April. Have planted at least part of nearly every year since that time, planting a total of more than 1.4 million trees in 7 southern states. Continue to plant trees as a sideline and hobby.
Started at UA Fayetteville, AR, in fall 1985. Skipped 1986 and 1987 spring semesters to plant trees in Mississippi, studying for "CLEP" college credit at night. Earned 50 hours of credit toward degree by CLEP or other non-traditional study. Completed BSBA in Management in Summer 1988, GPA = 3.70. Went to UA Fayetteville Law School, completed in December 1990, 2.64 GPA.
In private practice of law since 1991. Practice consists primarily of taxpayer's rights litigation, with some estate planning and general practice.
Previously held the position of Local Secretary for Mensa of Arkansas. Other activities and interests include softball, basketball, hunting, and fishing.
