Info | Wilson, Alonzo Edes: Editor. Lecturer. Born in Madison Wis., Feb. 5, 1868, son of James Voorhis and Charlotte A. (Plantz) Wilson. Educated in Chicago schools. Engaged in newspaper business and editorial work on the St. Paul Times, 1886; on the Chicago Lever, 1890-95. Secretary and Treasurer, 1891-1903, and Chairman, 1903-1910, of Illinois Prohibition State Committee, and is General Manager of the Lincoln Temperance Chautauquas; was Secretary of six State and three Nat'l Conventions, was candidate for Clerk of the Appellate Court of Cook County,Chicago, 1890, receiving the largest vote ever given; was candidate for Secretary of State, 1896, and in 1904 elected a member of the House Reps. of the Ill. Gen. Assembly.
Author of "Prohibition Handbook," 1900, and the "American Pro-Year Book." Is treasurer of the Methodist Temperance Soc.; member of the Nat'l Georgraphis Soc. and City Club of Chicago. Married in Rockford, Ill., June 14, 1897, to Anna Marie Nelson; two daughters and one son. Residence: Wheaton, Ill. Office: 106 N. La Salle St., Chicago, Ill.
