Engaged in newspaper business and editorial work on the St. Paul Times, 1886; on the Chicago Lever, 1890-95. Secretary and Treasurer, 1891-1903, and Chairman, 1903-1910, of Illinois Prohibition State Committee, and is General Manager of the Lincoln Temperance Chautauquas; was Secretary of six State and three Nat'l Conventions, was candidate for Clerk of the Appellate Court of Cook County,Chicago, 1890, receiving the largest vote ever given; was candidate for Secretary of State, 1896, and in 1904 elected a member of the House Reps. of the Ill. Gen. Assembly.
Author of "Prohibition Handbook," 1900, and the "American Pro-Year Book." Is treasurer of the Methodist Temperance Soc.; member of the Nat'l Georgraphis Soc. and City Club of Chicago. Married in Rockford, Ill., June 14, 1897, to Anna Marie Nelson; two daughters and one son. Residence: Wheaton, Ill. Office: 106 N. La Salle St., Chicago, Ill.
