InfoMark G. Boles is running for congress in Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district, which includes the counties of Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland.

Mark was born into a middle class American family on June 25, 1954 in Arlington, Virginia. His father was a career Navy enlisted man who was stationed at the naval shipyard in Washington D.C. Having completed twenty years of service to his country, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Master chief, and with family in tow, he moved to San Gabriel, California. Here, he continued his career-long government service with the NASA-operated Jet Propulsion laboratory in Pasadena, California. Mark's mother cared for the family while securing part-time work at the California Institute of Technology, also in Pasadena.

Following in his father's footsteps in service to his country, Mark joined the Navy during the Vietnam era, where he served as a Navy Corpsman, before being transferred to the United States Marine Corp. It was while in the military treating his fellow servicemen that he decided upon a career in medicine. He was honorably discharged in 1979.

After serving his country, he pursued his dream to become a doctor. Mark worked his way through college and medical school, often taking on more than one job at a time, including working as a truck driver and on the loading docks in Los Angeles, California. Working alongside Teamsters, Mark learned the value of union membership: that it provided fair wages, comprehensive health care, a comforting pension for the retirement years, and other needed benefits, as well as protection from unfair labor practices.

After receiving his degree in medicine he moved to Pittsburgh where he served his internship and residency at Mercy Hospital. His love of children led him to train in pediatric medicine. He finished his training in 1990 and immediately went into the surrounding community for which he had grown a great love.

He practiced general pediatrics in Greensburg and Murrysville and was on staff at numerous area hospitals. He served families and the community for ten years and remains a respected health care advocate for children. Mark presently serves the community as a Pediatric Emergency Room physician at Mercy Hospital.

Mark lives in Monroeville, with his wife and former high school classmate, Valerie, and their two sons. All four are all proud, successful products of a public school education.

Mark has never forgotten the community that helped him fulfill his dream. He certainly isn't running for Congress because he needs the job. He feels compelled to run because he sees the needs of the people of his district getting worse instead of improving.

Mark Boles believes in equal opportunity for all and special privilege for none.
