Ty Pettit currently serves as the President and CEO of Microhelix, Inc., a small OTC Bulletin Board manufacturing company based in Portland, Oregon.
Ty has over 30 years of diverse management experience in commercial and investment banking with Bank of America, Union Bank of California and Glen Eden Capital. His experience in this arena gives him an advantage in distilling financial information.
He has held various executive position with several Oregon-based early-stage companies including CMC ReSearch, Deep E. Co., The Coast Airlines, and Djangos.com.
For 3 years he served as President and co-founder of Vailwood Products, the manufacturer of Vailtex and LiquiGrip high performance latex exam gloves for the biotech and laboratory markets. The company was sold to a competitor in 1991.
Personal
Ty was born March 1951 in Evanston, Illinois and was adopted by Jane and Richard Pettit from Hillsborough, California. He had an exceptionally happy and enriching childhood growing up with his adopted sister, Jannie (now of Beaverton, OR).
Ty married Susan Ann Hunter of Northbrook, Illinois in 1976 and had a wonderful son Christian. Ty and Susan lived in Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Danville, CA before moving to Portland in 1991. They fell in love with Oregon and the people. They decided this would be their last move and made Oregon their home.
Susan was very active in Portland public schools as a volunteer and was a leader in developing foundations at several schools including Lincoln High School. In the spring of 2000, Susan was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and her passing left a shocked and grieving family.
On January 7, 2005 Ty married Joana Olaru, who enjoyed academic can professional success in Bucharest, Romania and Brussels before moving to Oregon in 1995. She owns and operates 4 Adult Foster Homes in Beaverton and is an acknowledged expert on the healthcare challenges of aging Oregonians.
Ty has experienced business failure and success. He has known incomprehensible loss and great personal joy. He has learned from all of his experienced and approaches the world with great optimism and sense of purpose. He expects to bring not only his professional experience to the U.S. Senate, but the energy and drive that have kept him charging with both humility and enthusiasm along the path of life.
