InfoDorrin D. Rolle was first appointed to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners by the former Florida Governor Lawton Chiles to represent the residents of District 2 in January 1998. This District is comprised of more than 102,000 residents, encompassing the communities of Liberty City, Opa-Locka, North Miami, Miami Shores, El Portal and North Miami Beach.

Commissioner Rolle began his public service career with the James E. Scott Community Association (JESCA) as a Social Worker in 1972. Today he serves as President and CEO of JESCA, which has a total of 260 employees, and an approximate budget of $7 million annually, as well as Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Economic Development and Housing Committee.

For many years, Commissioner Rolle served as Director of the Ex-Offenders Services Program. He coordinated the overall operation and management of three halfway houses for ex-offenders throughout Miami-Dade County, two for males, and one for females and their children.

Additionally, having served as an educator, Commissioner Rolle recognized the need for an alternative school in the Liberty City area. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Roving Leaders Alternative Educational Center, a unique school with, among other things, a state-of-the art computer lab and highly trained and qualified personnel.

Often times labeled as an Ambassador of Good Will, Commissioner Rolle saw the need for employment opportunities for inner-city youth. This brought about the establishment of a program geared to implement employment and training to motivate youth to remain in school, thus developing a higher level of self-esteem.

Commissioner Rolle has been the recipient of numerous awards due to his work within the community. Among these awards are: the Florida A&M Alumni Outstanding Service Award; the Apostolic Revival Center Usher Board Community Service Recognition; the World Vision Award; and the National Women of Achievement Profiles of Prominence Award. He also received special recognition from the City of Miami, the Gladeview Homeowners Association, and the Opa-Locka and Arcola Lake Elementary Schools.

Commissioner Rolle remains actively involved in community social and civic organizations. He serves as a member of the Public Health Trust Selection and Advisory Screening Committees, and is Chairman of the Board of the St. James A.M.E. Federal Credit Union; the Family Christians of America Association; the Boy Scouts of America; the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) Alumni Association; World Vision; Work and Gain Economic Self-Sufficiency (W.A.G.E.S.) Coalition; Greater Bethel Federal Credit Union; and is the Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraterntiy, Inc.

Commissioner Rolle was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) in 1967 and his Masters of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1973. He is also a faithful member of the St. James A.M.E. Church.

Commissioner Rolle has been happily married to his wife, Judith, for the past 31 years, and is the proud father of Damon, Yvette and Tangilar, and the proud grandfather of Shereece, Brian, and Jasmine.
