Info | Lyndon Williams was elected County Legislator for the 13th Legislative District in Mount Vernon in November 2007 by over seventy-two percent of the electorate in a contested election. Prior to taking office as County Legislation, Mr. Williams was a member of the Mount Vernon City Council. He was first elected to the City Council in 1993 and was re-elected in 1997, 2001 and again in 2005 by an overwhelming majority of Mount Vernon voters.
Mr. Williams played a central role in the re-building of Mount Vernon having served three terms as President of the City Council. He also held major leadership positions in the City Council, chairing several major committees including the Finance and Planning Committee, Legislation and Public Works, and Public Safety and Codes. He sponsored major legislative initiatives in the areas of economic development, housing, crime prevention and recreation.
Lyndon’s civic involvement in the Mount Vernon community includes his service as former member on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club, where he volunteered his legal expertise and co-chaired the Club’s fund raising effort to fund quality programs for young people. He also volunteered his legal expertise to establish the Levister Towers Community Development Corporation for resident-tenants to have representation in future plans for the Levister complex. He is member of the Mount Vernon NAACP.
In addition to his civic and political accomplishments, Lyndon has an impressive educational background. He is a graduate of Bernard M. Baruch College where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with concentration in accounting. After graduating college, Lyndon obtained the professional designation as a Certified Public Accountant. While working full-time for a major Wall Street firm, he pursued graduate studies and obtained his Masters Degree. Understanding that education is a key to success, Lyndon complemented his business education and experience by pursuing a law degree, earning a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law.
Lyndon is admitted to practice law in various courts including the United States Supreme Court; the Courts of the State of New York; Courts of the State of Connecticut; Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York; and the United States Tax Court. Lyndon has a wide range of legal and professional experience. He is a corporate lawyer. Lyndon is also President of the Westchester Black Bar Association, and is actively involved in several other professional organizations and affiliations. He has received numerous honors and awards. Through the bar association, he organized programs to encourage high school students in and around the county to take an interest in law.
Lyndon and his wife June have three children.
