| Info | As a State Senator for the last sixteen years, I have prided myself on delivering real and tangible results to improve the lives of my constituents and all Virginians. In Richmond, I get things done and have been a progressive leader on issues such as the environment, budget and finance, gun violence prevention, transportation, healthcare, and education and am a tireless advocate for women’s right to make their own healthcare decisions.
Most of my constituents are new to me this year. My door is always open, I’m always ready to listen, and to offer my support for you and your family.
At this time, we have many challenges: mass shootings, denial of women’s right to make medical decisions, climate change, education, health care, and economic development. We also are in turmoil and critical of each other. In gun safety and prevention, I have an “F” rating from the NRA once again, but I am being attacked for taking guns from domestic abusers and requiring State Police officers at every gun show to do background checks.
I work on the many things that are important to you: a strong economy and good jobs, a transportation system that gets us to our jobs and our families, schools that educate our children and are not overcrowded, protection and help for our members of the military and veterans, fiscal responsibility, and creating a positive political environment for all ideas and perspectives.
I will work with the people of the 36th Senate District to make our future the best it can be. I have helped improve the economic environment, schools, transportation, and other services elsewhere in the county. Now I shall help the people in this part of Fairfax County.
Having lived in what is now the 36th Senate District for several decades and having found that many people who have worked with me also live in this district, I look forward to working with all my constituents. And I hope I can earn your vote in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday June 20th.
