InfoYash Aggarwal, Ph.D., JD, of New City, NY is the AARP New York State President. He previously served AARP as a congressional district coordinator and as a member of the National Legislative Council. He also is a board member of Worldfest, N.Y., Inc. and was the founder and board member of the Asian American Coalition, a not-for-profit organization created to encourage participation of Asian Americans in public affairs and to facilitate their integration into main-stream America.

Dr. Aggarwal retired from MetLife where he was a financial planner and risk manager. Prior to that, he was president and board chair of Sensearth, Inc., a corporation providing consulting services on seismic risk. He also worked as a research scientist at academic institutions. In 1996, he was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives. Dr. Aggarwal founded Common Interest, a think tank, and IndiaPAC to strengthen India-US relations.

Fluent in Spanish, French and several Indian languages, Dr. Aggarwal has lived, studied, or worked in Africa, Europe, India and South America. He received a Ph.D. in Seismology from Columbia University in 1975 and a JD from CUNY School of Law in 2001. Among his many awards and citations, Dr. Aggarwal was honored for exemplary service to the elderly from Respect Age International in 2001.
