Stuart and his wife Laura have been married for 27 years. They have three children and one grandson.
Stuart currently serves as the President/CEO of SCReid, LLC, and Reid & Reid Properties, LLC, consultant and development companies respectively.
Prior to starting his own companies, Stuart served for 5 ½ years as the Director of the Community and Economic Development Department of Ogden City. He directed seven divisions over all planning and building development in Ogden City. These divisions included Business Depot Ogden, Business Development, Neighborhood Development, Engineering, Planning, Redevelopment, and the Airport.
Previous to his work in Ogden City, Stuart served as a Salt Lake City Council Member, including the chairman of the Council. Later he served as the Salt Lake City Community and Economic Development Department director, where he directed seven divisions with over 200 employees. Stuart ran against Rocky Anderson for Salt Lake City Mayor and unfortunately lost the race.
Prior to Stuart’s public service, he served as a manager of government and community relations for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
For six years Stuart served the nation as a chaplain in the United States Army, where he earned numerous commendations and medals for his dedicatory service.
From Brigham Young University, Stuart earned a Bachelors of Financial Planning and a Masters of Education.
Stuart has served on numerous community committees, commissions, boards and foundations.
As state senator, Stuart will help make Utah a state that is an example to the nation. He will focus on tight fiscal accountability, including lowering taxes, expansion of economic development and transportation development for Northern Utah. He will legislate for affordable and effective education for K-12 students and university students, and caring support for the disadvantaged of Utah who cannot care for themselves, without respect to race or religion.
