Info A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Harvard Business School and Georgetown Law School, Lynch was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1999 by Governor Jeanne Shaheen. He brought with him to the board an impressive background in business. In 1994 Lynch became the president of Knoll, Inc., an office furniture subsidiary of Westinghouse. In less than one year he took a company with losses of $50 million annually and built it into a $1.2 billion company with $240 million in annual operating profits.

When John Lynch arrived on the board in 1999, Chairman Keough recognized his expertise and appointed him to serve on the Board?s two key financial committees. Since that time Lynch has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee for Investments, overseeing the investment funds of the University System. He has also been a member of the Financial Affairs Committee, which coordinates policy and planning for all financial matters of the system.

"During his time as a Trustee, John Lynch has brought a special blend of business acumen and expectation and a familiarity with the culture of the academy. His commitment to that partnership that must exist between the University System and the state and people it serves will challenge, inform, and guide our work during his chairmanship," said Chancellor Stephen Reno.

Chairman Lynch also serves on the boards of Citizens Bank, Catholic Medical Center in Manchester and the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord. He is also a former president of the University of New Hampshire Alumni Association. He lives with his wife Susan and three children in Hopkinton.
