InfoHaving served the public in staff positions for more than 15 years, David Mayer is seeking elective office for the first time as a candidate for the General Assembly in the 4th District. His public career began as an aide for then-Freeholder Director Robert E. Andrews, continued in Andrews' successful congressional campaign and then as director of the congressman's district office. Since 1995, he has been chief of staff to Camden County Clerk James Beach. Mayer pledges to resign his county job before he is sworn-in as the next Assemblyman from the 4th District - and resigned this year from the Gloucester Township Council to focus on his own campaign.

During that period, Mayer earned a B.A. from Rutgers-Camden, a Rutgers M.A. in public policy and administration, and a Juris Doctor from the Rutgers-Camden School of Law. He has also taught courses in political science at Camden County Community College and in public administration at Rutgers-Camden.

He vows to fight for the region's quality of life. "I will fight tooth and nail to block any attempts to dump toxic waste from across the Delaware River in our neighborhoods. Enough is enough," Mayer says.
