Info | Ventnor City Administrator
As a candidate for the New Jersey State Assembly, Drew brings a unique blend of knowledge, experience and leadership to the campaign. A graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, McCrosson also holds an Associate of Science degree from Atlantic Cape Community College and in May 2000 attained a Master of Accountancy degree in governmental accounting from Rutgers University, one of five initial graduates from this innovative master’s degree program.
McCrosson is a CPA and brings that experience, as well as that as a Certified Government Financial Manager, to the table as a candidate. As an accountant he has been both a firm partner as well as a sole practitioner, and he is well aware of the demands imposed upon our local businesses to make payroll and keep the lights lit even as economic pressures bear down. And now in his fifth term as a municipal elected official, Drew serves the public as a member of the governing body in Upper Township and the Director of Revenue and Finance. McCrosson had also served as that community’s Mayor until the demands of operating his accounting practice while at the same time completing his master’s degree suggested that he pass the gavel to one of his colleagues. He also currently serves the governing body of the City of Ventnor as the Municipal Administrator, giving him the unique perspective of service as both an elected and appointed official and a wealth of experience and leadership in governmental service.
Under Drew’s leadership as Mayor, Upper Township sought greater operating efficiencies and began to move more quickly into the electronic age. The local budgeting process was streamlined and longer range financial projections were more regularly utilized. In short, the Township accelerated its efforts to do more with less.
Demonstrating concern for a region larger than his own community, Drew served on the 1991 New Jersey Republican State Platform Committee and more recently as the President of the Cape May County League of Municipalities. A vocal proponent of improving the transportation infrastructure for our area, McCrosson has continued to pursue matters of concern beyond the borders of his own town.
Having grown up in Atlantic County, McCrosson and his family have made Cape May County their home since 1980. Drew and his wife, Janet, have been married since 1973 and have three daughters. Active as an Elder and Treasurer for his church, he has also served as a volunteer coach and was the recipient of an American Cancer Society Volunteer Service Award and the Volunteer Center of Atlantic County Community Service Award for his activities in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. McCrosson was also the recipient of an Atlantic City Police Civilian Award for Heroism, having helped save the life of an Atlantic City Police officer in response to a cry for help.
Drew is committed to ensuring that the First Legislative District is well represented in Trenton and is looking forward to joining our legislative team.
