Info | Shawn Pinkston is a former JAG officer in the United States Army. He is a decorated veteran of the Iraq War and a former military prosecutor. Today, he is a local attorney with Hall Booth Smith, P.C. defending the front line of our health care industry—doctors, nurses, hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
He is a devoted husband and father of two who enjoys coaching little league soccer and playing active roles in local charities. His school-age son attends public school in Daniel Island, South Carolina.
Experience
Prior to attending law school, Shawn worked for elected officials at both the state and national level. He served as Communications Director for the first Republican President of the Kentucky Senate and for the Honorable Ron Lewis (R-KY).
Shawn is a lifetime public servant—not a career politician. He believes in putting his constituents’ interests before his own political interests.
Military Career
He served in the US Army JAG Corps and attained the rank of Captain. He served as the lead prosecutor for one of the busiest jurisdictions in the US Army and successfully prosecuted more than 40 felony trials. Shawn was also appointed as a Military Magistrate in Iraq and was responsible for authorizing search warrants and presiding over confinement hearings.
Shawn is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and deployed with the Third Infantry Division as part of the 2007 Surge. He established and led the Military Justice Office for a Multi-National Division while in Iraq and was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Education
Shawn is a graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree from Berea College, located in Berea, Kentucky, where he played soccer and was named an Academic All-American.
After graduating Berea College, he was the goal keeper for the Professional USL First Division Soccer Team in Maryland.
