Info | HOLT, Hines, a Representative from Georgia; born near Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Ga., April 27, 1805; completed preparatory studies; was graduated from Franklin College (now the University of Georgia) at Athens in 1824; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Columbus, Ga.; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Walter T. Colquitt and served from February 1 to March 3, 1841; resumed the practice of law; member of the State senate in 1859; Member of the House of Representatives of the First Confederate Congress 1862-1864; died while attending as a delegate the State constitutional convention at Milledgeville, Ga., on November 4, 1865; interment in Linwood Cemetery, Columbus, Ga.
