InfoCharles Anthony Raven Crosland was a a member of the British Labour Party and an important socialist theorist. He served as the Member of Parliament for South Gloucestershire and later for Great Grimsby. Throughout his long career he occupied the cabinet positions of Secretary of State for Education and Science, President of the Board of Trade, Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning and Foreign Secretary. His reinterpretative approach to socialism foreshadowed Tony Blair's creation of New Labour in the 1990s.
