(founded in 1728 by Benjamin Franklin); member of the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners 1929-1936; served in the State house of representatives 1939-1947; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1949-January 3, 1959); was not a candidate for renomination in 1958; died in Bryn Mawr, Pa., January 26, 1961; interment in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Park, Upper Darby Township, Pa.
