Info | JAMES, Benjamin Franklin, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Philadelphia, Pa., August 1, 1885; attended the public schools of Philadelphia and continued education extensively in graphic arts; moved to Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pa., in 1910; during the First World War enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the Central Officers Training School; honorably discharged in November 1918 as second lieutenant, United States Army Reserves; former president and chairman of the board of directors of the Franklin Printing Co., Philadelphia, Pa. (founded in 1728 by Benjamin Franklin); member of the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners 1929-1936; served in the State house of representatives 1939-1947; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1949-January 3, 1959); was not a candidate for renomination in 1958; died in Bryn Mawr, Pa., January 26, 1961; interment in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Park, Upper Darby Township, Pa.
