InfoLANGHAM, Jonathan Nicholas, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born near Hillsdale, Indiana County, Pa., August 4, 1861; attended the common schools; taught school; was graduated from the State normal school at Indiana, Pa., in 1882; studied law; was admitted to the Indiana County bar in December 1888 and commenced practice in Indiana, Pa.; postmaster of Indiana, Pa., 1892-1893; assistant United States attorney for the western district of Pennsylvania 1898-1904; chief clerk and corporation deputy in the auditor general’s department of Pennsylvania 1904-1909; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first, Sixty-Second, and Sixty-third Congresses (March 4, 1909-March 3, 1915); was not a candidate for renomination in 1914; elected in 1915 judge of the court of common pleas for the fortieth judicial district of Pennsylvania for a term of ten years; reelected in 1925 and served until his retirement in January 1936; died in Indiana, Pa., May 21, 1945; interment in Oakland Cemetery.
