Dr. Leonard W. 'Tiny' Ross, 94, of Rock Island, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island.

Per Leonard's wishes, cremation rites are to be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is assisting the family.

Leonard was born July 5, 1915, in Marathon, Iowa, the son of Robert and Julia Johnson Ross. He married Sarah D. Romine on July 7, 1936, in Knoxville, Iowa. She preceded him in death July 23, 2008.

Leonard was a graduate of Marathon High School and went on to be in one of the first graduating classes from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He owned his own practice in Rock Island, retiring in 1998 after 50 years of serving the Quad-Cities.

He was a member of the Illinois State House of Representatives from 1960 to 1962, Illinois State Merit Commission, Illinois State Civil Service Commission, the Rock Island Police and Fire Commission, Rock Island City Council and lifetime member of Illinois State Prairie Chiropractic Association. Leonard also loved taking care of his family and gardening at their home.
