InfoArt Harding currently serves as Deputy Associate Superintendent of State Government Affairs at the Arizona Department of Education. In this capacity, he advocates at the state legislature for higher teacher pay, defends the education budget, helps to pass a more reasonable system of accountability for Arizona’s children, and assists in clarifying and strengthening education law to help Arizona’s students. In this capacity, Art has also had the opportunity to work with many community and education groups.

As a native of Phoenix, he has had the pleasure of seeing the exciting changes that have occurred to our great city. Art received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona. He resides in downtown Phoenix.

Art currently is a Commissioner on the Arizona School District Redistricting Commission.

Art also serves on the YMCA community Initiatives Board of Directors, which oversees Arizona Youth in Government, YMCA Achievers, and the I-Learn program.

He is a member of the Arizona Constitutional Commemoration Committee. The purpose of this committee is to collaborate and cooperate with public, private and nonprofit entities to promote understanding of the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights.

He has served in an advisory capacity on the English Language Learner’s Task Force, which is charged with helping students learn English so they can compete for the best education and high paying jobs.

He has also worked with the E-Learning Task Force, which examines successful e-learning initiatives and as staff support on the Physical Education Task Force, which supports more PE in schools.
