Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Pierre Corbeil has been residing in the riding of Abitibi-East for more than 25 years. He was a councillor with the town of Val-d’Or twice, from 1988 to 1996 and from 2000 to 2001. He always tooks an active part in many community, social and professional activities, mainly as President of the Val-d'Or Major Junior Hockey Team Inc., Founder and President of the Val-d'Or Regional Airport Inc. and Founder and President of the Vallée-de-l'Or Wine, Beer and Spirits Fair.

Pierre Corbeil was elected M.N.A. for Abitibi-Est in the general election of April 14, 2003, he is minister for Forests, Wildlife and Parks, from April 29, 2003 to February 18, 2005. He is now minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife.

Pierre Corbeil is married to Hélène Ayotte, a native of Amos. They have four children: Andrée-Anne, Jean-Simon, Marie-Hélène and Pierre-Luc.
