InfoSteve Santarsiero was first elected to the Lower Makefield Board of Supervisors in 2003. He was the first Democrat to be elected to the Board in 18 years and only the second in the history of the township. In 2006 Steve became Chairman of the Board after Democrats gained a majority for first time ever.

As a supervisor Steve Santarsiero has worked to foster regional cooperation by creating and chairing the Southeastern Bucks League of Municipalities, a group of 15 Lower Bucks towns that meets every two months to discuss regional matters. On environmental issues, he pushed for the first comprehensive low impact development ordinance in Bucks County, minimizing the impact of development on the environment and greatly reducing the causes of flooding. He proposed the first Citizens Traffic Commission in Lower Makefield, and is working with it to formulate a master plan to solve the township’s traffic problems. Santarsiero has long been a proponent of open and responsive government. As a minority supervisor he proposed televising township meetings and conducting interviews for boards and commissions in public. Both measures passed when he became chairman of the new Democratic Board.

Steve Santarsiero currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Land Use Coalition, a non-profit corporation based in southeastern Pennsylvania whose mission is to promote responsible growth while working to find regional solutions to problems like traffic and flooding. He served as Chairman of the District 31 Democratic Committee from 2001 to 2006, during which time the organization experienced tremendous growth and won historic victories at the local level.

Steve Santarsiero is a graduate of Tufts University, the University of Pennsylvania Law School & Holy Family University. He practiced law for 11 years before changing careers to become a high school teacher. He currently teaches social studies at Bensalem High School. Steve and his wife Ronni have lived in Lower Makefield since 1995. They have three children, Nancy, 9, Billy, 7 and Johnny 3.
