Info | WALTERS, Anderson Howell, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa., May 18, 1862; attended the public schools and was graduated from Johnstown High School in 1878; employed as a telegrapher and clerk with the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. 1878-1880; entered the service of the Johnstown Water Co. and the Johnstown Gas Co., in 1881 and was assistant superintendent of these companies in 1889 and general manager and secretary 1895-1902; delegate to the Republican State conventions in 1890, 1892, 1898, and 1904; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1896; chairman of the Republican city committee 1896-1899; member of the Republican State committee 1898-1902; member of the Johnstown City Council 1900-1904; editor and proprietor of the Johnstown Tribune from 1902 until his death; elected as a member of the board of trustees of the Johnstown Savings Bank in 1907; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913-March 3, 1915); was not a candidate for renomination; elected to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1919-March 3, 1923); chairman, Committee on Expenditures in the Department of Labor (Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses); was not a candidate for renomination; elected to the Sixty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1925-March 3, 1927); was not a candidate for renomination; died in Johnstown, Pa., December 7, 1927; interment in Grandview Cemetery.
