Latter Day Saints (Mormon) -
|Info||John grew up in the East Mill Creek neighborhood of Salt Lake City. He attended Skyline High School where he served as Student Body Vice President. A year after graduating high school, John served in the Taiwan mission for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission, he earned a Business degree from Brigham Young University (BYU). |
After graduating from BYU, he went to work for the Citizen Watch Company as a territorial manager over five states. In 1984 he received the Rookie of the Year Award. One year later he was awarded National Salesman of the Year.
John left Citizen and took a job with the O.C. Tanner Company. While working for O.C. Tanner, we moved to California and Virginia. While in Virginia John served as a bishop. He was also involved with the national fight against abortion, a member of the Rotary, and began a foundation titled "There is enough and to spare".
After much research John and I determined that the best place to finish our lives was in Provo, Utah. In 1997 we bought into Action Target, Inc. and moved to Provo. John is currently Chief Operating Officer. He is also on the Government Review Board of the Provo Chamber of Commerce, a scoutmaster, and involved in little league baseball. He is a terrific husband and a wonderful father to six great kids.
Throughout his life John has strived to serve God, his family, and his community to the best of his ability. He is a man of integrity. If given this responsibility, he would put forth his very best effort and sincerely strive to serve and represent this awesome Provo community.
I am John Curtis, candidate for the Utah State Senate, District 16.
John Curtis with daughter NicoleI am running because I believe deeply in a set of values which are shared by my friends and neighbors. Currently, I believe these values are not being properly represented in the legislature. As a senator, I will bring leadership on critical issues by using personal freedom, responsibility, and accountability as my foundation.
I am running as a Utah County Democrat because the changes to the 2000 platform have brought it into close harmony with my core values.
John Curtis working at Action Target in Provo I was born and raised in Utah. Since graduating from BYU, I have had many valuable opportunities for professional and community service in other states and countries. I am currently Chief Operations Officer of Action Target Inc., an employer of about 120 Utah County residents. I also serve on the Board of Directors of PIC Development Group, a venture capital company.
I enjoy my work in the community and currently work as a scoutmaster. But my most rewarding job is as a husband and the father of six wonderful children.
