InfoDan was born in Redvers to Hugh and Violet D’Autremont and raised in Alida, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Calgary, majoring in Engineering (1 year). Dan has worked for a number of companies in the oil industry including Mobil Oil, PanCanadian Petroleum, Dome Petroleum, and Producers Pipeline Inc.

In addition to his duties as an MLA, Dan keeps himself involved with the community as a member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and S.E. Borderline Gun Club. Dan and his wife Heather have farmed in the Alida area since 1977. They have three children: Nicholas, Amanda, and Kelly.

Elected in 1991 and then re-elected in 1995, 1999, and 2003 to represent the Cannington constituency, Dan is one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Party. Since its inception, Dan has served as the Sask Party’s Deputy Leader, House Leader, Whip, Critic for Highways, Energy and Mines, and Health. Dan served as Vice-Chairman of Special Committee on Rules and Procedures.

Currently Dan has critic responsibilities for Liquor and Gaming, Saskatchewan Gaming Authority, SGI, Information Technology Office, and is Deputy Critic for SaskPower, SaskTel, and SaskEnergy. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Legislative Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.
