InfoGeoffrey "Geoff" Kelley has held several positions throughout his career, mainly as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Premier and President of the Treasury Board, Political Aide to the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Science and Minister responsible for the application of the Charter of the French Language, as well as Political Aide to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Public Security. He holds a Master’s degree in Modern Canadian History from McGill University.

Elected as MNA for Jacques-Cartier in the 1994 general election, and re-elected in 1998 and 2003, Geoffrey Kelley was the Official Opposition critic for Native Affairs and the North. He served as Chair of the Committee on Public Administration, Vice-Chair of the Delegation of the National Assembly for Relations with the United States (DANREU), National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). He was also a member of the Committee on the National Assembly, member, Québec Section, of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and member, Québec Section, of the Ontario-Québec Parliamentary Association (APOQ). In June 2003, he was elected Chair of the Education Committee, a position he held until his appointment, on February 18, 2005, as Minister for Native Affairs. He is currently a member of two Cabinet committees – the Social, Educational and Cultural Development Committee (CMDSEC) and the Economic Prosperity and Sustainable Development Committee (CMPEDD).

A native of Montréal and resident of the City of Beaconsfield (located in the riding of Jacques-Cartier), Geoffrey Kelley is married to Judith Harper and a father of five. He is involved with several community organizations, notably Place Cartier Adult Education Centre, the West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped and West Island Community Shares.
