Info | Stephanie D. Neely, a native Chicagoan from the Southside, brings to the office of Treasurer of the City of Chicago over twenty years of financial services experience with leading investment banking institutions. Ms. Neely has a deep personal commitment to serving the City. As Treasurer, she is responsible for investing public dollars to insure the best return for taxpayers and will draw on her work in the fields of asset management, municipal and corporate finance. A former Vice President at Northern Trust Global Investments, Ms. Neely was responsible for working with public and corporate pension funds. As Treasurer her duties also include serving on five public pension boards. As an African-American woman, Ms. Neely has created opportunities for minority-and-women-owned financial services firms by fostering relationships with Northern Trust and thereby helped them establish a foothold in the industry. Ms. Neely holds a degree in Economics from Smith College and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. She has served on the board of several civic and business organizations, including the Chicago Summer Business Institute, the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals, the Urban Prep Charter School, the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. Mayor Daley appointed Ms. Neely as City Treasurer in November of 2006 to complete the term of former Treasurer Judith Rice. The Chicago City Council confirmed her appointment.
