| Info | Cheryl Brodersen of Denison, Iowa is
campaigning for the House of
Representatives because she hopes to
restore statesmanship and dignity to the
office while being a reasoned voice for the
people of the 5th district of Iowa.
Cheryl was born in 1952 at Crawford
County Memorial Hospital in Denison,
Iowa. She is a graduate of Denison
Community High School and received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from
the University of Texas at Houston. She is
currently employed as a registered nurse
at the hospital at which she was born.
Cheryl has been married to Basant Patnaik
for 29 years. They have 3 children all of
whom are currently attending college, two
at the University of Iowa and one at the
University of California at Berkeley.
In 1989 Cheryl was awarded Outstanding
Individual Volunteer of the Year by the
South Carolina State Education
Association for her work toward increased
writing skills. She is a former Iowa 4-H
club leader, a member of the United
Methodist Church in Denison, and
Questers, an organization for those with
an interest in antiques.
Cheryl's other interests include flower
gardening, refurbishing old houses and
participating in a local political discussion
group, The Goose Grease Gang. She places
individual people's concerns as a top
priority and is passionate about the
well-being of her family, her region, state
and nation.
