Info | Rep. Thomson, a Republican, represents Atchison, Holt, Nodaway and part of Worth Counties (District 4) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House in November 2006.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Thomson is a retired teacher. Rep. Thomson worked for over 30 years as a teacher, counselor, administrator and coach in Conception Junction and Maryville, Missouri. He worked for the Northwest Missouri State University as an instructor and in admissions for eight years.
Rep. Thomson is a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri Retired Teachers Association and the Missouri School Counselors Association. He is currently a member of the Optimist Club of Maryville.
Throughout his career, Rep. Thomson has been awarded the Missouri Secondary Counselor of the Year Award, Northwest Missouri District Counselor of the Year Award, been named as a Who’s Who among America’s teachers, Maryville High School Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, Midland Empire Basketball Coach of the Year, and Northwest District Industrial Arts Teach of the Year.
A 1964 graduate of Craig High School in Craig, Missouri, Rep. Thomson received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1968. He went on to earn his Masters of Science Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1971.
Born April 8, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, Rep. Thomson currently resides in Maryville with his wife, Nancy. They have two children: Amy and Tracy.
