Info | Bart Baron is a business executive, community volunteer and political activist
who has chosen to take the ultimate leap and stand for political office. He is
a sixty year old manufacturing executive(former vice-president of operations
of a NYSE listed firm), who served a machinist apprenticeship, and who has
been a member in good standing in two labor organizations, The IAM
(International Association of Machinists) and the IUEC(International
Association of Elevator Constructors).
Mr. Baron, while not a Michigan native, has lived and worked in the state for
fourteen years and has contributed time, effort and resources to many community
and political organizations. He speaks often about The Troy Community
Coalition(a group that works to prevent teen drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse)
and its positive effect on the Troy Community. Bart often comments of the need
for more communities nationally to emulate the Troy Coalitions success so that his
grandchildren will have the best chance of growing up without the need or desire
for physiologically altering substances.
Bart attended college, Pratt Institute, in New York City where he grew up and
received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1967. Prior to
attending Pratt Institute he served a machinists apprenticeship in the Brooklyn
Navy Yard. Recently Mr. Baron has served as Vice-Chairman of the Lean
Business Systems Committee of the A.I.A.G.(Automotive Industry Action Group).
The A.I.A.G. is a voluntary group the helps set the quality and IT standards for
the automotive industry.
Mr. Baron has lived and worked all over the US and in several foreign countries(UK, Can,
Mex., Switzerland, Germany, France, etc.) This as well as many international business
trips has given him a perspective that all of our candidates for national office should have
prior to seeking these positions. He ran unsuccessfully in the general election of 2000 for Congress in the 12th Congressional District of Michigan. After the 2000 elections and redistricting Troy, the city where Mr. Baron resides, is now part of the 9th Congressional District.
