Representative BigHorse was born on July 16th, 1956 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He had worked in the ranching and oil industry of Osage County. He began a career in corrections in 1988. After a lengthy career in corrections BigHorse opened the first co-facilitated juvenile detention center inside an adult county jail in January of 2001. BigHorse became interested in politics at a young age. He served as a page in 1968 for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He is Peace Officer Certified through the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training for the State of Oklahoma. He has two children - Melanie and Norris.
EDUCATION:
Representative BigHorse majored in social work at the Haskel Indian College.
POSITIONS:
Representative BigHorse was a member of the Osage County Teen Democrats, serving as Secretary and Chairman. He currently sits on the City of Pawhuska Planning and Zoning Board. He also is a past board member for the Yourth Services of Osage County.
HONORS:
Representative BigHorse was named Correctional Officer of the year in 1990, for Dick Conner Correctional Center.
