InfoJill Taylor Bussiere will be 52 years old in June. She was born and raised in Lansdowne, Pa, a suburb of Philadelphia. In 1992, Jill moved with her family to the Town of Pierce in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin.

She has been married for 29 years to Merritt Bussiere, who works as a researcher for the Labrorers International Union of North America. They have 3 children: Elena (23), Abram (20) and Lilah Rebecca (17).

Jill currently works as a line therapist with autistic children in their homes. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary Education from Penn State University, and an M.S. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Over the years, Jill has taught in public and private schools, working as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, children's librarian, and math teacher. She was a home-schooling mom, supporting the learning of her three children.

She has been an organic market gardener, and worked with others to get a farmers' market off the ground in the City of Kewaunee. She co-authored a Food for Thought column in the Kewaunee Star a series of articles exploring food and gardening, and topics relating to the food system. The Northeastern Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas, an atlas highlighting local food producers in our region, was another project she worked on. She was a member of the Steering Committee of the Farm Market Kitchen, and a member of the Steering Committee to determine the feasibility of a Good Earth Natural Foods Cooperative in Algoma. She is a technical reviewer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Value Added Producer Grant Program.

For decades she has long been active in the peace and justice community. Merritt and Jill gave a year of service in the Brethren Volunteer Service in 1980 to ‘81, working to clean up and repair homes throughout the country that were damaged by natural disasters. Jill was the Kewaunee County coordinator for the "Bring the Troops Home"� April 2006 ballot initiative.

Jill has been active in the community as: a member of the Town of Pierce Plan Commission, a founding member of the Kewaunee Chapter of the Glacial Lakes Conservancy (a multi-county land trust working with private property owners to conserve natural resources on their land), and a long time member of the League of Women Voters of Kewaunee County.

Politically active since the 1970s, Jill's involvement has been the strongest within the Green Party. Within the Wisconsin Green Party, she has served as Co-chair of the state party (2003 and 2005), a member of the Wisconsin Green Party Coordinating Council (2003 to present), Co-chair of the state media committee, and is currently Co-chair of the Ahnapee River Green Party, her local chapter.

At the national level, Jill is one of 2 Wisconsin Representatives to the National Committee, the governing body of the Green Party of the United States. She has been a member of the International Committee of the Green Party of the United States from 2002 to the present.
