| Info | Dave Lyon is an “average Joe” who believes that
everyone can make a difference in life. Born in New Britain, he has lived in Willimantic for the past 20 years. He is married to his wife, Angie, of 21 years, with three sons: Stephen (17), Gabriel (14) and Peter (12).
Dave is currently employed in the advertising
department of a local newspaper. He has also worked at several consumer-oriented management positions.
Dave is very active at his church, Light on the Hill
Christian Fellowship, in Willimantic, where he is a founding member and a children’s church teacher. He has also coached Willimantic Little League baseball.
Dave organized the Willimantic Life Chain a few years ago, which attracted hundreds of participants from area churches. Dave also ran for Windham state representative as a Republican, receiving more votes in the district than the top of his ticket (John Rowland and Ed Munster).
He also published the Northern Connecticut Love Express, and evangelical monthly publication supported by dozens of churches and ministries.
When he has a few spare moments, Dave likes to enjoy the outdoors, including hiking, camping, outdoor photography. He’s even enjoyed an occasional wild game of paintball. But primarily, he enjoys spending time with his wife and sons.
Dave is a dedicated believer in Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible. He believes that there is nothing wrong with mixing his faith with his political views. “The moral values of the Bible have been the key to the success of our country," says Dave. "Our founding fathers adopted the Constitution as a document designed to complement these values. A society, by definition, can’t exist without a universally accepted code of moral conduct. The gradual redefining of this moral code is the primary
reason for the epidemic of social problems.”
