InfoChip Throckmorton was elected Mayor of Oak Hill in 2002 and also serves on the Oak Hill Planning Commission. Mayor Throckmorton serves on the Regional Solid Waste Board, the Greater Nashville Regional Council and the Regional Transportation Authority.

Chip is a practicing attorney and an accomplished publisher. He is a member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club, the Nashville Kiwanis Club, Boy Scout Troop 217, is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Williamson County Red Cross and is the former Chairman of Progress, Inc. Mayor Throckmorton was recently awarded the Blue Heron award by the Friends of Radnor Lake.

Mayor Throckmorton married Beth Holder of Brentwood, Tennessee. They have two children, James and Elizabeth. They attend First Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill.



Biography

Chip was the only son born to Ray and Yvonne Throckmorton, of Brentwood. His father, Ray Throckmorton, Jr., moved to Middle Tennessee as an engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He later founded Geological Associates, which grew to employ more than 500 people. Yvonne Throckmorton, originally from Waverly, Tennessee, was a Registered Nurse.

Chip attended Battle Ground Academy in Franklin from 1977 to 1983. Upon graduation, he attended Ole Miss on a debate scholarship. Chip later transferred to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to be closer to his mother, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Chip graduated in 1987 with a B.S. in Business, and did some post-graduate marketing work before enrolling at the Nashville School of Law.

In 1989 Chip married Beth Holder, of Brentwood. Beth graduated from Brentwood Academy and went on to become a school teacher. She is currently a full-time preschool teacher. Chip and Beth have two children, James and Elizabeth.

In 1993, Chip graduated from the Nashville School of Law, and went to work in the Franklin law office of Ernie Williams.

In 1996, Chip founded his own law firm. In 1999, Chip was appointed to the Oak Hill Board of Zoning Appeals. In 2002, Chip was elected by the voters of Oak Hill as a City Commissioner, and was subsequently elected Mayor by his fellow commissioners.

Mayor Throckmorton has sponsored an annual Prayer Breakfast since 2003.

Mayor Throckmorton announced his candidacy for the 23rd State Senate district in April of 2006.
