InfoA native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Yarborough was a Houston attorney and businessman who ran for Governor of Texas repeatedly at the head of a liberal coalition of New Dealers, unions, Hispanics, African-Americans, and feminists.

He is not related to his ideological compatriot, U.S. Senator Ralph Yarborough, nor to former Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Yarbrough, who is known as "the Wrong Don Yarbrough" due to the belief that he was elected to the Court due to the similarity of the two names.
