Info I was born in a blizzard in January of 1969 , the local plowman had to lead the way out to the highway because my dad got stuck in the middle of the road. I grew up on a hobby farm 8 miles outside of Grantsburg, in Burnett County.

In high school I participated in many activities, including Band, Choir, Baseball, Basketball, and Track. I was a member of the National Honor Society, and a National Merit Scholar. I was also active in my church youth group, as well as a bi-county youth group known as Burnett-Polk Youth Ministry.

At the University of Minnesota, Morris, I was again active in Band and Jazz Band, and ran on the Track team. I also got involved in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, which led to my first missions trip. We went to an Apache Reservation in Arizona and did work on a church over Spring Break. We returned the following year as well. This was my first taste of missions work and serving others, and I enjoyed it immensely.

After three years at Morris, I transferred to North Central Bible College for a year and a half. On a 10-day trip to Monterrey, Mexico, it became clear to me that I needed to commit my life to serving others. In December of that same year, 1992, I traveled to Homestead, Florida to help in repairs after Hurricane Andrew. In January of 1993, it was back to Monterrey for three months as interpreter for a group building dormitories at a Bible school. In June of 1993 I went to Japan where I spent three months building a church. After that it was back to Mexico for a school of missions that lasted five months. And in November of 1994 I was in Nepal on a prayer hike. In January of 1995 it was off to a leadership training school in Colorado for nine months, and it was during that time that we visited the orphanage in Juarez, Mexico.

Returning home for a short time, I was sent to Chicago to act as host to 13 groups of teens that would come from around the world as part of Operation World, '96. Teams came from New Zealand, Sweden, Puerto Rico, and New Caledonia, to name a few places. At the end of July of 1996, I moved to Juarez, Mexico, and Rancho Los Amigos children's home. I spent the next year there on staff, investing in the lives of children nobody wanted. The joys and sorrows of that year would fill a book.

In college, and between these trips, I worked in construction, as a truck-driver, as a teen counselor, and at a grocery store. When I came back from Juarez, I went back to driving trucks. But I had also begun helping a friend teach her children Spanish as part of their home-school curriculum. That eventually led to a full-time job for three years, teaching Spanish, Math, Chemistry, and Music.

In 2002 I was able to take almost 40 of my students to Mexico for a 10-day trip that had a huge impact on their lives.

And later in 2002 I moved to Ukraine for "a year" as a music missionary. One of our interpreters was a lovely young lady named Tanya, and eventually, in August of 2003, she became my wife. In July of 2004 she emigrated to the U.S.A. legally. Tanya has a Master’s Degree in English and English Literature and is teaching English at two different schools. I am currently campaigning full-time.
