| Info | Noem lives with her husband, Bryon, and three children, Kassidy, Kennedy, and Booker, on a ranch near Castlewood. She farms in partnership with her brothers, sister, and mother near Hazel. The partnership owns and operates a hunting lodge that offers pheasant and waterfowl hunts, which Noem oversees. She also manages her mother's restaurant, Past Times, in Watertown.
Noem graduated from Hamlin High School in 1990 and has lived in the area her entire life. She has served on various boards and committees, including the South Dakota State Farm Service Agency Committee, Watertown High School Rodeo Committee, Derby Downs Improvement Project Committee, Commission for Agriculture in the 21st Century, and the Commission for Limited Resource Producers in Washington, DC. Currently Noem serves on the South Dakota Soybean Association board as its treasurer. Awards she has received include, 1990 South Dakota Snow Queen, 1997 South Dakota Outstanding Young Farmer, and 2003 Young Leader award for the state of South Dakota. Noem has spoken at various events through the Midwest on various topics including, agriculture, family relations, women in ag, farm safety, and has also been a vacation bible school and summer church camp speaker for elementary children. Noem has been a 4-H leader for 8 years and also teaches a class for 6 th and 7 th grade girls at her church on Wednesday nights. She enjoys hunting, and raising cattle and horses.
