Oscar Kashala is a candidate in the current election in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Doctor Kashala is a graduate of Harvard College and the president of a bio-pharmaceutical company based in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. His current campaign comes after years of residence in the United States, from where he has funded his campaign out of his own pocket.
In May of 2006, thirty of Lukumuenda's employees were accused of plotting to overthrow interim Congo president Joseph Kabila. Lukumuenda claims that it was an attempt by Kabila's administration to intimidate him.
