| Info | Dan Bishop, a Republican, is serving his first term on the Board. He also serves on the Effective and Efficient Government, Natural Resources and Education Liaison Committees.
Bishop is a native Charlottean, having graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. He received his B.S. in Business Administration in 1986 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with highest distinction, and his law degree with high honors, in 1990.
Bishop was a member of the North Carolina Law Review, Order of the Coif and Phi Beta Kappa.
Bishop was admitted to the North Carolina bar in 1990. Currently, Bishop is a principal in the commercial litigation boutique firm Bishop, Capitano & Moss, P.A. His practice areas include shareholder and partner disputes, employment, construction and securities brokerage and ancillary bankruptcy litigation. He is a member of the North Carolina and Mecklenburg County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of North Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Business North Carolina magazine named Bishop to "North Carolina's Legal Elite" in litigation in 2003 and again in 2005.
Bishop is an active member of the local community. He worships at Providence United Methodist Church, where he also pursues his love of singing with the Chancel Choir, as a baritone soloist.
Bishop resides in the Blantyne neighborhood with his wife Jo and son Jack, age 4 1/2. His parents, five siblings and their families all reside in District 5, which he serves.
