InfoAmanda Ragan is a lifelong resident of Cerro Gordo County and was first elected to the State Senate in a special election in March of 2002. She was re-elected to a full four-year term in November of 2002. She currently represents District 7, which encompasses Mason City, four townships in Cerro Gordo County, all of Floyd and Mitchell Counties and a precinct in Howard County.

Ragan is an honors graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. In addition to her legislative service, she is the Executive Director of both The Community Kitchen of North Iowa, Inc. and the Mason City Meals on Wheels programs.

A strong supporter of community service, Ragan is involved with the Chambers of Commerce in Floyd and Mitchell counties and in Mason City. Additionally, she is a contributing member of the Mason City Sunrise Rotary, the North Iowa Fund-Raising Professionals, the local Council on Social Agencies, the Francis Lauer Youth Services Board of Directors, the Iowa Maternal Health Advisory Council, the Iowa Department of Public Health Birth Defects Advisory Committee, and the Iowa Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) Board of Directors.

Amanda and her husband, James, live in Mason City and have two children and one granddaughter.

Ragan is the Co-Chair of the Senate Human Resources Committee and a member of the Senate Health and Human Services Budget Subcommittee. She also serves on the Senate Agriculture, Appropriations, Economic Growth, and Rules and Administration Committees.
