Info | Senator Ben Brooks was elected to the Alabama Senate on November 7, 2006. He was born August 11, 1958, in Mobile. Senator Brooks received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Alabama in 1980, and his Juris Doctor (law degree) from the University of Alabama in 1983. He is a practicing attorney in Mobile, and was appointed by Governor Bob Riley to serve on the Alabama Law Institute. He has served for a number of years as a Special Judge of the Mobile County District Court. Senator Brooks served as a Councilman on the Mobile City Council from 2001 to 2006, and was Chairman of the Mobile City Council Finance Committee from 2001 to 2006. Senator Brooks has been married to Kathy since 1982 and they have 3 children. Senator Brooks is a Republican and a Christian.
Pursuant to Senate Rule 47(j), Senator Brooks was appointed the Minority Leader's designee on the Senate Standing Committee on Banking & Insurance.
